Health benefits of tea1
The people around me who enjoy tea rarely think about health, they simply enjoy it to the point of addiction. The feeling is not at all different from being addicted to tobacco, to coffee or to alcohol. It's just that tea is really very good for the body and there is no harm in being addicted.
To this day, apart from tea lovers, the average person drinks tea mainly for health reasons, and the biggest factor in this is losing weight and keeping fit.
But tea has been around in China for thousands of years, and in those thousands of years, most Chinese people are not fat and simply do not have a need to lose weight. The main reason for the for the love of tea is that the Chinese believe it has detoxifying effects and can also prevent colds.
Let's start with the question of detoxifying effects.
This comes from the Chinese god of agriculture: Shennong, whose name in Chinese means: sacred farmer. Shennong existed around 4000-5000 years ago in the ancient legends, an era that can be understood as the same time when Adam and Eve were playing in the Eden. According to the legend, this was a holy man who loved medicine, agronomy and botany. He loved to study plants and taste various herbs to determine their medicinal properties. There is also a legend that his abdomen was transparent (this sounds rather scary now) and that the transparent intestines made it easy for his students to observe and record the reactions of the herbs in his stomach.
It is said that Shennong would drink tea after each tasting, and that by drinking the tea, the medicinal effects of whatever herbs were present could be counteracted, and that for poisonous plants, the tea had even better detoxifying properties.
This idea exists in the minds of many Chinese to this day, and there are many who believe that you should not drink tea an hour before or after taking medicine, otherwise it will become less effective.
